Old Scotland Vaccine Data

In September 2022, Public Health Scotland stopped releasing the Covid-19 vaccine data for Scotland in its normal form. From that point onwards, the vaccination data released would primarily focus on the rollout of the winter 2022 booster. Figures showing the total number of first, second, and third-fifth doses administered were still being released, but in a different format from how they were previously being released.

Previously, the figures were daily, were based on the date of vaccination, and removed individuals who had passed away or moved out of Scotland. But the new figures from September 2022 onwards are weekly, just based on the date the vaccine was reported, and do not remove individuals who had passed away or moved out of Scotland.

I had to switch to using the new figures on the main ‘Scotland Coronavirus Tracker’ page, otherwise the vaccination figures would never be updated again. But I thought I’d make this page to keep showing the old vaccination data, as these are the most accurate figures when looking at the initial vaccination rollout in Scotland.

The data here shows the progress of the vaccination rollout from December 2020 to mid September 2022 in Scotland. Further figures are available from PHS directly here.

Vaccinated with First Dose

4,406,899

That is 80.6% of Scotland,

and 90.1% of everyone over 12!

Vaccinated with Second Dose

4,170,559

That is 76.3% of Scotland,

and 86.2% of everyone over 12!

Vaccinated with Third Dose

3,527,054

That is 64.5% of Scotland,

and 73.7% of everyone over 12!

Vaccinated with Fourth Dose

543,690

That is 9.9% of Scotland,

and 11.4% of everyone over 12!

This chart shows the entire Scottish population, with each dot representing about 20,000 people. It shows those who have only had their first dose of the vaccine (yellow), those who have only had both doses (green), those who have had their third (and fourth) dose (blue), and those who are completely unvaccinated (grey).

It is worth noting that the 'unvaccinated' group also includes children under the age of 5, who are not currently eligible for the vaccine. There are around 260,000 children under the age of 5, which makes up 5% of the population (13 dots on the chart).

This chart shows the running total number of first, second, third, and fourth doses which had been administered on each day of the pandemic, and what percentage of the total population this covered.

When someone who has been vaccinated passes away, or moves out of Scotland, they are removed from these figures. So you may see historical figures gradually decrease.

This chart shows the total number of people in each age group who have had their first, second, and third dose of the vaccine. You can select an age group to see more specific figures for it.

The coverage figures are calculated using the NRS mid-2020 population estimates. As these estimates aren't completely accurate, and vaccine uptake has been so high, it has resulted in the coverage figures for some age groups going beyond 100%. The true figure for these age groups is likely somewhere in the high 90s.

This chart shows the number of vaccinations administered by type. In Scotland, we are currently administering Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Moderna vaccines.

Weekly Increases

This chart shows the number of new vaccinations administered each week, split by first, second, third, and fourth dose. It is based on the date when the vaccination was actually administered, and not just the date it was reported.

Total Coverage

This chart shows what percentage of Scotlands total population have had their first, second, third, and fourth doses of the vaccine, both in total and in the past week specifically. There is also a fourth bar, which shows Scotlands total population split by age range, just for reference.
